Chicago, IL (March 23, 2001) – Merchandising Frontiers, Inc. of Winterset, Iowa received two NASFM Retail Design Awards for the year 2001 as manufacturer of a retail kiosk for the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Jerry Mayer, President of MFI, accepted the Special Merit Award –Outstanding Store Fixture and the Outstanding Merit Award -New or Remodeled Hardline Specialty Store up to 3,000 s.f. on behalf of MFI.
MFI completed two large, custom kiosk projects for the Field Museum of Natural History. One kiosk is located in the Chicago O-Hare Airport and performs as a satellite gift shop for the museum at the airport. The award-winning kiosk is located at the museum and is the retail kiosk store dedicated to the Sue Dinosaur Exhibit.
The award-winning, walk-in kiosk at the museum features a 1,600 s.f. extruded aluminum structure, custom diorama signage, CNC cut replica dinosaur bones that are suspended above the kiosk, tempered glass and exotic metal finishes, CNC cut aluminum frieze panels, custom light fixtures and custom merchandise display fixtures.
MFI was recognized in the awards ceremony, which took place at McCormick Place in Chicago during the GlobalShop convention. NASFM is an international, not-for-profit association representing the store fixture manufacturing industry since 1956. NASFM members manufacture an estimated 85% of all store fixtures produced in North America.
