The Field Museum of Natural History, headquartered in Chicago, IL is home to the world’s largest and best preserved tyrannosaurus rex known as, “Sue”. MFI was selected to build the Sue Store which is dedicated to the on going Sue exhibit. MFI won two NASFM (National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers) awards for this project. In addition, MFI built the museum satellite store located next to the towering brachiosaur in United Airlines Terminal One at Chicago O’Hare airport. We started with initial design concepts and then completed the detailed design, fabrication, project management, and installation.
The Field Museum projects feature an extruded aluminum structure, custom diorama signage, CNC cut replica dinosaur bones that are suspended from the museum ceiling, tempered glass, exotic metal finishes, CNC cut aluminum frieze panels, custom light fixtures, and MFI custom made store fixtures.
