New or Remodeled Hardline Specialty Store up to 3,000 sf - Outstanding Merit Award:

The SUE Store. The Field Museum of Chicago, Chicago, IL

Inspired by the Field Museum’s Tyrannosaurus Rex, Sue, the designer utilized a tiered modular space frame to define the simple, open plan. They formed a framework on which to mount merchandising panels without building permanent walls, and created a store with its own self-contained security. The SUE logotype and dinosaur bone motifs reinforce the theme. The fixturing and presentation is interactive and hands on. The end result is an 850 square foot store which complements the architectural integrity of the museum’s turn of the century hall. Merchandising Frontiers, Inc of Winterset, Iowa manufactured the museum store kiosk.
