Special Merits Award – Outstanding Store Fixtures:

The SUE Store: Archaeological Dig Structural Frame
The Field Museum of Chicago, Chicago, IL

To complement its exhibit of the Tyrannosaurus Rex Sue, the Field Museum wanted a unique setting for dinosaur-oriented merchandise. Inspired by the archeological site, a framework was created that would accommodate peak traffic flow directly from the exhibit. The framework and the walls of the store were fabricated by Merchandising Frontiers, Inc. of Winterset, Iowa out of extruded aluminum rails which provide a structural framing system for the exterior walls of the store and an open grid ceiling to mount lighting, graphic panels, and an abstract mobile of dinosaur bones overhead.
